Fun Night

THANK YOU for your support in providing a fun evening for our families at Family Fun Night!  The children had lots of fun playing the new games the boosters provided and the big inflatable slide was a big hit like usual!  New this year was the live auction.  Many items were sold and the boosters have heard lots of positive comments about the changes!  Below are a few photos to enjoy!  (I think over $12,000 was raised for our school!)

Bike Safety

Deputy Schmuecker came to visit on a beautiful sunny day last week and talked to us about bike safety!  Don't forget about the free bike safety program held here at KE on Saturday, June 1st!  The children should bring their bike and everyone will receive a free bike helmet! A special thanks to Washington County Deputy Schmuecker for coming to our kindergarten room this year to help us learn how to be safe around farm equipment, bike safety and drug awareness!

Earth Day

Ms. Pam came on Earth Day and we read a story and discussed how to help take care of our earth! Later in the day we picked up sticks and liter around our school.  We also had a lesson in recycling while making a lollipop tree for Fun Night!  We used a piece of recycled wood and Mr. Billups cut it in the shape of a tree.  Next we sanded (part of our Science unit on woods) the edges of our lollipop tree and lastly we painted it!

Jack and the Beanstalk

In Science we learned about the life cycle of a seed.  We read the story of Jack and The Beanstalk and with the help of our volunteer Ruth, we planted our very own "magic bean seeds" and waited patiently for our seeds to grow!  Your child brought their bean plants home this past week.  Continue to water them and consider planting it outside in a flowerbed and enjoy watching your child's excitement when they find their first beans!

Literacy Center Fun!

We continue to "learn" while playing during Literacy Centers!  This past week the children enjoyed playing our reading version of Jenga!  Each child had to read the word written on their block before they added it to their tower!  The child with the tallest tower won the game!

Team Work

We learn so many life lessons each week in our kindergarten room!  This week was no exception!  Free time was over and the children had been working SO quiet together so when I heard them say, "We always get so close to finishing this puzzle but never have enough time," I decided to give them a couple of extra minutes!  It was after completing the puzzle that I heard one child say, "Look at what we can do guys, when we all work together!"  I can never let one of those little teachable moments go unnoticed so we discussed how things go much faster when we all work together!  In the following days I saw LOTS of "teamwork!"  Hope the photos bring a smile to your face like they did mine!
