QUieT CriTteR Rewards

We LOVE our QUieT CriTteRS!  The children have all earned at least one coupon for keeping quiet with their QUieT CriTteR friends!  Each time your child earns a coupon, they will bring a paper home with a copy of the coupon they chose!

Color Graphs

This week we made color graphs.  We ask our friends what their favorite color was and recored their response on our own Color Graph.  When we were finished, we reported our findings to our friends.  We discovered using graphs "help us sort things and make it easier to see how many of something there is!"  The children enjoyed completing their graph and were anxious to bring it home to share!

New Math Concept

Since I LOVE snow and we don't seem to have much this winter, I decided to introduce beginning addition using "snowballs!"  The children worked together in pairs to play our new addition game.  Each child took a turn drawing a card and placing the given number of "snowballs" on their snowman mat.  The first student to add enough snowballs to fill their mat, won the game!  This game will become a little more complex when we introduce subtraction and they will begin to add AND take away a given number!

Ms. Pam

The children LOVE when Ms. Pam comes and the question they usually ask is, "Is she bringing any live or dead animals this time?"  The answer to the question this week, was no!  The children enjoyed making bird feeders for their feathered friends!

Symmetrical Snowflakes

The children enjoyed making symmetrical snowflakes this week during math!  I always enjoy watching the children while we complete this lesson!  Pictures can't capture the twinkle and excitement they have when they unfold their snowflake and see what they've created!

Volunteer

Ruth comes to volunteer in our kindergarten room each Wednesday.  She works with small groups and individuals during our Literacy Centers!  The children enjoy the time they spend interacting with Ruth! THANKS mom for giving your time to help my students each week!

Record and upload audio >>

The children heard Tanner share how important it is to always try to do your best at everything and to read a lot!  We had LOTS of excited children to spend time with Tanner AND they can't wait until they get to college and can eat all the pizza they want!!  THANKS Tanner for making a lasting impression on your sister and her friends!!

Math Fun

This week we review numbers 1 to 12.  The children enjoyed playing Domino Concentration.  Kindergarten children are learning to recognize numbers by looking at a given group, without counting each item and matching the group to a given number.
We also completed a holiday pattern lesson that we started before break!  Each child used pattern blocks to make a pattern.  Next they recreated their pattern on a Christmas ornament!  The children were SO excited to see their final project!
